Sixth Stadler trains delivered to Belarus

Belarusian Railways has received all the six five-car electric trains in line with the contract signed with Stadler Bussnang AG in December 2012. Acceptance and certification testings of the new rolling stock are in progress.

In the future, Belarusian Railways intends to use five-car trains to replace trains on regional business-class lines where significant passenger traffic is registered: Minsk-Baranovichi-Brest, Minsk-Bobruisk-Zhlobin, and Minsk-Orsha. The four-car trains are supposed to be used for shorter runs of Belarusian Railways.

The new trains boast several advantages in comparison with their four-car predecessors. The new trains offer 302 seats instead of 216 seats with better seat arrangements and space for large luggage in every car. The advantages also include car enumeration implemented as LED tables on sides of the cars and frontal video surveillance cameras in the front parts of the driver’s cabs. The cars also allow installing vendor machines to sell merchandise in an unattended manner.
