Skanska and the Swedish Transport Administration have signed a SEK 400 million agreement for the expansion of Mälarbanan between Spånga and Barkarby, north of Stockholm.
The project is a turnkey contract covering the expansion of Mälarbanan from two to four tracks on a three-kilometer section as well as a new platform. Commuter trains will have two separate tracks, while other trains will pass freely on the two outer tracks. When the entire expansion of Mälarbanan between Tomteboda and Kallhäll is completed in 2025 it will be easier to take the train with more departures to choose from and easier to arrive on time.
Construction start of preparatory work is planned for the summer 2016 and the project is expected to be fully completed during 2019.
