Škoda Vagonka double-deck EMU to enter passenger operations trial in Lithuania

skoda_el-jednotka_575Škoda Vagonka has delivered the first of three EJ 575 double-deck EMUs ordered by Lithuanian Railways.

The new CityElefant EMU will enter passenger operations trial on Vilnius – Kaunas route. The new trains are intended for regular cross-border services between Vilnius and the Belarussian capital, Minsk.

Delivery of the two remaining units is to be completed in Spring 2017.

Lithuanian Railways placed the CZK  75o million (EUR 27.7 million) order for the three EMUs in 2014, in addition to the ten class 575 double-deck trains already in use.
