Slovak-Polish consortium wins EUR 33.2 million tender for Kosice tramway line reconstruction works

kosice tramwayThe municipality of Košice has awarded a EUR 33.2 million contract for tram line reconstruction works, to a consortium formed of local construction company DÚHA and Polish group ZUE SA

The Integrated system of passenger railway transport Košice (IKD), the IKD construction – Stage 1, Námestie Maratónu Mieru – Staničné námestie project comprises reconstruction of the existing tramway track of DPMK (Transport Company of the Kosice Municipality) together with other infrastructure (Electric traction supply, interlocking, radio and information equipment, heavy current wiring and equipment, relocation of the concerned utility networks) to a track with IKD parameters. An advantage provided by this technical solution is the identical gauge of the rails operated by DPMK and the network of ŽSR (Railways of the Slovak Republic) – that is the gauge of 1 435 mm. Works are to be completed by the 31 of July 2015.
