Slovakia tenders rail passenger services on Bratislava – Banská Bystrica route

The Slovak Minister of Transport, Construction and Regional Development has announced that long-distance rail passenger services on the  Bratislava – Banská Bystrica route via Šaľa, Levice and Zvolen are open to competition. The tender for the operation of the subsidised service was published on Friday in the European public procurement journal Tenders Electronic Daily (TED).

The winning rail passenger operator will sign a 10-years contact of 1.5 million train-km/year. The value of the contract is estimated at more than € 10 million.

Interested companies may submit their bids until the 15th of January 2016.

Arriva Slovakia, RegioJet and LEO have previously expressed interest in operating the service on the 230 km long route, currently served by state passenger operator ZSSK.
