Slovakia: Transport Ministry has released funding for the reconstruction of Bratislava’s Starý most (Old Bridge)

stareho_mostaJán Počiatek, Minister of Transport, Construction and Regional Development of the Slovak Republic has decided on the provision of a nonrepayable financial contribution for Reconstruction of Bratislava’s Starý most (Old Bridge) project.  The project aiming to build a new tramway line to the district of Petržalka is part of this project and has already secured EU funding.  With modernized Old Bridge the tramway will come back to Petržalka, which is the largest borough of Bratislava city (with 130 000 inhabitants).  Also, for the second part of the project referring to building the tram tracks on Bosáková – Janíkov route, Slovakia will apply for money from EU funds, which will be available from 2014.

Request for confirmation of assistance for the project of reconstruction of the Old Bridge was sent to Brussels, along with a recommendation from the technical experts of the European Commission (JASPERS)” said Transport Minister J. Počiatek.
