Saint Petersburg Metro announced on Tuesday a tender for the purchase of 27 six-car metro trains with automatic driving system and asynchronous traction drive, for a maximum price of RUB 13,6 billion (EUR 186 million). The new metro trains will enter service on St. Petersburg Metro Line 3 (Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya line).
The new metro trains procurement plan includes 54 front cars equipped with automatic driving system and asynchronous traction drive, 54 cars with asynchronous traction drive and 54 trailers.
Rolling stock manufacturers are expected to submit bids until until the 25th of August 2016, with the tender results to be announced on the 6th of September.
The first 15 metro sets are to be delivered in 2017 and the remaining 12 until August 2018.
