St Petersburg Metro and Oktyrbrsky Electric Plant (OEVRZ), a subsidiary of Transmashholding (TMH), have signed a RUB 13.8 bn (EUR 218 million) contract for the supply of 40 metro trains.
Deliveries will take place from January to May 2018 (eight trains per month).
The trains have asynchronous traction motors which are expected to reduce energy consumption by 30% compared to the curent St Petersburg Metro fleet. The metro cars will be built 81-722.3 / 723.3 / 724.3 model car types.
The trains are equipped with air cleaner and ventilation systems, and electronic destination indicators. The driver’s cab will be air-conditioned and will have vibration-absorbing seats.
OEVRZ is the largest rolling stock supplier of St Petersburg metro, with four ongoing contracts totalling 428 new metro cars until the end of 2020.
