Strabag-led consortium signs EUR 85 million rail contract in Poland

strabag_silesia_polandPKP Polish Railway Lines (PKP PLK) has signed with STRABAG-led consortium a PLN 370 million (EUR 85 million) contract for the rehabilitation of the 60 km long Chybie – Żory – Rybnik – Nędza/Turze railway section in Silesia. The consortium is formed of Traction PRKil,  STRABAG Sp. zoo, STRABAG Rail as, COMSA SA and ZUE SA. 

Works will be carried out during 2017-2019 and will include the line modernisation, 10 rail stations and stops (modernised platforms, improved lighting, sound and signage systems),  structural engineering works for 91 bridges, culverts and viaducts, the modernisation of traffic control devices, noise protection.

The project is co-financed under the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020 . 

The project on Chybie – Nędza rail line is a significant investment for PKP PLK in Silesia, which will facilitate rail transport in an important economic region. Nearly PLN 4.4 billion will be invested in Silesia’s railway network as part of the national railways programme (KPK).
