Romanian state-owned railway infrastructure manager CFR SA and Thales Systems Romania have signed a contract for design and execution works related to Electronic Interlocking in Videle Rail Station project.
The total value of the project is EUR 5.2 million (VAT exclusive), of which 85% are funded by EU under the European Regional Development Fund. The main objective of the project is to replace the existing electro-dynamic interlocking (type WSSB installed in 1972) with a new electronic interlocking.
In Romania, Thales is also carrying out the modernization of Ilia – Lugoj line interlocking (February 2015 – February 2017). The company has 28 electronic interlocking in commercial operation.
