Astana transport and logistics center (TLC), the largest Class A TLC in Central Asia, has launched its multimodal services on the 12th of November, informed Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ).
“The construction of a TLC network in Kazakhstan’s major cities will satisfy the country’s need for modern storage facilities at international standards and create distribution centers covering regions of neighboring countries”, said KTZ Vice President Kanat Alpysbayev.
Until 2020, transport and logistics centers will be built on the main Kazakh transport corridors in Aktobe, Uralsk, Atyrau, Aktau, Kostanai, Pavlodar and Semey. By the end of this year the TLC in Shymkent will also be launched. The regional hubs will provide storage, processing, and cargo consolidation services.
Astana TLC is located on the Karaganda-Astana road, with access to the ring bypass road and a railway station. It has 5 km of railway sidings.
The TLC has a dry storehouse with an area of 29,300 square meters, a climatic storehouse of 13,300 square meters, a distribution center of 25 thousand square meters, and an intermodal container yard of 70 thousand square meters. Its annual handling capacity is up to one million tons of cargo/year.
