Two Turkish companies won USD 4.4 billion tender for Doha Metro “Gold Line” project

As part of a five-partner consortium, STFA group and Yapı Merkezi won USD 4.4 billion tender for underground design and construction of Doha Metro “Gold Line”. The two Turkish companies are the leaders of the joint venture with 40% share (the jv. companies are Indian’s Larsen & Toubro, Greece’s Aktor group and Qatar’s al-Jaber Engineering).  With the signing ceremony which was held in Qatar in 23 April 2014, Yapı Merkezi and STFA won the biggest valued tender of Turkish contracting sector outside of Turkey.

Gold Line is going to be the biggest project of the Qatar’s 2022 World Cup investments with the amount of USD 4,4 billion.  The project is planned to be completed in 2018 and to achieve this goal, six Tunnel Boring Machines will be operated at the same time.  Doha Metro is going to connect the city center, important trade areas and stadiums to each other.
