Ukrainian Railways (UZ) reintroduced Hyundai Rotem trains on Kyiv – Kharkiv route today. A team of 16 Korean specialists was involved in the repairing works, said Yong Suk Choi, the head of Hyundai Rotem Ukraine. The unit was already tested on the route Kyiv – Kharkiv, Kyiv – Lviv, Kyiv – Dnipropetrovsk and Kyiv – Donets.
The repairing works of remaining nine HRCS2 EMUs, which also involve representatives of UZ and the State Research Center Railway Transport of Ukraine, are ongoing and are expected to be finished by the end of July. The rolling stock will gradually be reintroduced on routes.
UZ suspended suspended operation of all 10 HRCS2 units on the 13th of February 2014. In 2013, the HRCS2 trains transported 2.2 million passengers.
