The Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure announced that The State Rail Transport Administration (Ukrzaliznytsia) transported 443.6 millions tonnes, 3% less compared to 2012 and the volume turnover is 224.4 billion ton-km, which is 5.6% less corresponding period of 2012.
In 2013, passenger transportation tentatively fell by 0.5%, to 482.765 million passengers. Passenger turnover fell by 0.8%, to UAH 48.814 billion passenger-kilometers, and it grew only on suburban routes – by 0.7%, to 16.51 billion passenger-kilometers.
In January-November 2013 transported 446.9 million passengers, which is 0.5% less than in January-November 2012. Passenger turnover was 45.6 billion passenger-kilometers, which corresponds to the same period last year.
Ukrzaliznytsia plans to increase passenger transportation by 0.5% in 2014, to 485.269 million.
Passenger turnover in 2014 could be increased by 1.8%, to 49.672 billion passenger-kilometers, including a rise of 2.4% on local routes, to 3.955 billion passenger-kilometers, a rise of 5.5% on interstate routes, to 7.777 billion passenger-kilometers, and a rise of 1.8% on domestic routes, to 21.45 billion passenger-kilometers. The planned passenger turnover in 2014 on suburban routes will total 16.49 billion passenger-kilometers, which is 0.1% down on 2013.
