Uzbekistan Railways has completed a project for the development of the repair depot rolling stock and reconstruction of the foundry operation of a foundry- mechanical plant (a subsidiary of the Uzbek railway company), Trend news agency reports.
It was earlier reported that a project worth $ 150 million envisaged the reconstruction of the foundry operation for the production of steel, cast iron and non-ferrous casting with a capacity of 25,000 tons per year to increase the production volume of freight cars and large containers.
The project was financed through a loan from the Uzbek Reconstruction and Development Fund worth $48.8 million and equity of Uzbekistan Railways.
German Kunkel Wagner, Otto Junker and Nederman and Estonian Skinest Rail companies supplied modern technique and technologies.
The plant plans to produce over 600 cars in 2014 some 179 of which will be exported.
