Uzbekistan Railways annual freight wagon production to triple by 2019

“Liteyno-mehanicheskiy zavod” (“Casting and mechanical plant”), a subsidiary of Uzbekistan Railways, plans to increase its freight wagon production to 1200 units by 2019. The plant underwent extensive modernisation, the amounts invested reaching USD 120.2 million. Financing for modernisation project was provided Uzbekistan Railways – USD 71.3 , the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan –USD  48,8 million and foreign investments – USD 21,8 million.

25% of its production, including  20 ‘and 40’ long containers, will be exported. The plant was issued by the Certification Registry at the Federal Agency of Railway Transport of Russia a certificate and permit for serial construction of wagons, providing access on Russia’s, Belarus and Kazakhstan markets.
