Slovak rail infrastructure manager ŽSR has signed a contract with Nimnica Association for the project Modernisation of railway line Púchov – Žilina for maximum track speed of 160 km/h, section Púchov – Považská Teplá. The value of the contract is EUR 365 million (excluding VAT), one of the largest projects of ŽSR. Nimnica Association is formed of Doprastav (SK), TSS GRADE (SK), Subterra (CZ) and Elektrizace železnic Praha (CZ) companies.
Nimica Association has 14 subcontractors, among which are FIRESTA-Fišer, Siemens and Metrostav Praha. In order to protect promptly payments to the subcontractors, taking into consideration that both Doprastav and TSS GRADE (SK) are in a restructuring process, the contract has a special clause according to which the subcontractor has the right to claim 20% of the bank guarantee provided by the main contractor in case of delayed payments.
Other five consortia and companies participated in the tender launched by ŽSR in July 2015. Eurovia CS- led Czech PÚŽIL Association, which also includes OHL ŽS and Hochtief CZ submitted the second best price bid, followed by Slovak-Turkish Railways SK consortia, composed of Duha (SK) and Gülermak Agir Sanayi Ve Insaat AS Tahhüt (TR) and Kolin Insaat Turizm Sanayi ve Ticaret AS (TR).
Works on Púchov – Považská Teplá 16 km long rail section include the construction of two tunnels, Diel (1082 m long) and Milochov (1861 m long), 14 bridges and 11 culverts, the modernisation of Považská Bystrica and Považská Teplá railway stations. The first phase of Púchov- Žilina line modernization will last 40 months.
